HR Assistant Manager (Bilingual English/Korean)

Summary of Functions
As a strategic partner, the Assistant HR Manager assists the HR Manager ensuring business objectives align with employees and management goals. This individual will communicate proactively by maintaining a close relationship with their business units to develop and establish integrated HR solutions. This position will support HR related functions by focusing on issues of employee compensation, performance, training and development, recruitment and employee relations, and implementation of policies and procedures.
Principle Responsibilities
- Assists in recruitment effort for hourly open positions in conjunction with the hiring manager, utilizing the most efficient and effective sources, and staffing agencies.
- Attends recruiting events, job fairs, and company promotional opportunities to build applicant pool and interest.
- Provides employee assistance, including employee complaints, investigations, and assists with employee performance reviews.
- May assist with periodic evaluation of compensation structure and programs to ensure that it is equitable, effective, and competitive within the market.
- Coordinates and assists in the creation or evaluation of job descriptions in conjunction with department managers.
- Maintains and manages training and development needs for assigned business units.
- Communicates employee issues, feedback, and evaluation to unit managers.
- Maintains open door policy for company employees and routinely informally solicits employee feedback.
- Stays current with employment and labor laws and HR trends.
- Assists in bilingual Korean translations amongst company members.
- Liaison between company headquarters and the local facility.
- Processes and maintains foreign Visa statuses and renewals.
- Validates and approves hourly payroll records for processing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business with preferred concentration in Human Resources, Communication, or Pre-Law focus.
- 3+ years of generalist experience in human resources.
- Bilingual English/Korean required, Spanish is a plus.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Certification preferred, but not required.
- Experience with a company with 300+ employees.
- Industry exposure with manufacturing, production, or related private service organization.
- Open to 10% travel within California.
- Implementation of human resources programs by providing HR services, including talent acquisition, staffing, employment processing, compensation, health and welfare planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing personnel transactions.
- Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information, recommending courses of action.
- Improves manager and employee performance by identifying and clarifying problems; evaluating potential solutions; implementing selected solutions; coaching and counseling managers and employees.
Physical Requirements
Work is considered low physical work in an office and production setting, requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Must possess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform low physical work indoors with minimum exposure to dust.
Must be able to:
- Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel, and crouch for extended periods of time.
- Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle objects and reach with hands and arms.
- Will spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers.
- Some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time.
- Demonstrate the ability to hear and have specific vision abilities to adjust focus, in an environment subject to noise, dust, etc.
- Perform all work safely in a fast-paced work environment.
- The incumbent is located in a quiet office area and is faced with constant phone interactions, noise, and will be in contact with other staff.
Salary Range: $64k-88k DOE (salaried, exempt)
