Mental Health Cooperative, Inc. (MHC) was formed in 1993 to serve individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Since then, we have expanded our services to children and adolescents with severe emotional disorders across Middle and East Tennessee.

Our sole purpose is to support and treat those challenged with serious mental illness and poverty. Although based out of Nashville, we serve several communities across middle and East Tennessee with satellite offices in Antioch, Gallatin, Dickson, Columbia, Cleveland, Murfreesboro, Clarksville, Cookeville, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

HR Business Partner (on site)

JOB SUMMARY

The HR Business Partner (HRBP) position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture and its competition.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts weekly meetings with respective business units spending time in the field in clinic settings as well as in the Corporate office.
  • Day to day support to line management, providing HR guidance related to coaching, counseling, performance management, associate relations and disciplinary actions, engagement and inclusion, career development.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies which they will roll out to associates and the field based teams.
  • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Supports ensuring right plans are in place for new hires, promotions and transfers.
  • Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
  • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
  • Supports guidance to the right resources for benefits and leaves questions or matters.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
  • Prior experience working in medical or mental health field preferred
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including benefits and leaves, organizational diagnosis, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential preferred

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
