Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will perform HR and administrative tasks and services to support effective and efficient operations of the organization’s Human Resource Department.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for recruiting process and pre-hire activities, including on-boarding.
- Maintain benefits enrollments and coordination, including audits of the data feeds, open enrollment, and employee tier 1 questions.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation in HCM (currently Workforce Go).
- Completes weekly, monthly, annual tasks including reporting, system maintenance, and HR processes.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Assist with the onboarding process, including drug screen and background checks.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and other related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Work independently, in a safe and effective manner with minimal direction and supervision in a procedure driven environment.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
- 2 years of HR and/or Talent Acquisition experience.
- Preference will be given to candidate with both general HR and Talent Acquisition experience.
- Experience in HR Systems (Workforce Go), pre-hire and onboarding and/or talent acquisition.
Environmental/Working Conditions
- Remote setting – US-based Central or Eastern time zone required. Preference give to those in or near Houston, TX, Clare, MI or Theodore, AL.
- Must have a set up for a home office where you can work privately with minimal interruptions.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
