HR Generalist
Jacksonville, FL
Salary Range- $60,000 to $70,000k
Job Summary:
The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department at Jacksonville FL including hiring and interviewing staff, conducting orientation/onboarding, submitting payroll weekly, reviewing benefits and leave information with employees as needed, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
- May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions through our ATS; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings and helps to complete scorecards.
- Conducts or acquires background checks, drug screens, and employee eligibility verifications.
- Assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors in Paycor, and distributing checks.
- Investigates employee concerns/complaints and attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Partners with Terminal leaders and provides coaching for difficult conversations and proper documentation.
- Additional administration tasks may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Skilled with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems (Paycor).
- Experience with purchasing systems and other billing/tracking systems is a plus, specifically “Dynamics."
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Documented successful completion of lawful post-offer, pre-employment checks including criminal background check and drug screening.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- At least two years of human resource generalist experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift fifteen pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
- A few days a year of travel for training per year.
