Job Summary:

Prairie Farms Dairy, Battle Creek operates as a dairy manufacturing plant and distribution center that covers the whole state of MI and some of the surrounding states. We make dairy products that are then distributed to retail outlets, warehouses, hospitals, correctional facilities, retirement homes, food service warehouses, schools and colleges throughout Michigan.

As a Processor and CIP Associate, you will be responsible for operating the pasteurizer and ensure all product that is processed meets all food and safety quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform pre-op equipment inspections
• Ensures equipment is properly assembled and sanitizer is drained
• Must properly document start up records and charts
• Maintain batching, vitamin and product traceability records
• Perform product changeover
• Must test product for compliance with quality specifications
• Performs equipment maintenance every 24 hours, this includes routine equipment cleaning
• Effectively utilize time available to achieve results through prioritizing demands
• Maintains an air of professionalism and communicates effectively
• Demonstrates problem solving and decision making ability, as needed
• Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn
• Operator shall follow the procedures as defined for the specific area or system to be cleaned.
• Shall meet all requirements of the FSMA preventive controls program.
• Before CIP, ensure that the correct chemicals are present for use.
• Ensure Allergen Control Programs are followed when cleaning involves allergens.
• Ensure all hand washed components have been disassembled and cleaned according to the defined procedures.
• Ensure proper connections have been made according to procedure
• Ensure system or vessel is ready for cleaning.
• During operation ensure Time, Temperature and Chemical Concentration Levels are within specified requirements. (Sanitation PC)
• Upon completion, conduct appropriate checks to ensure cleaning requirements have been satisfied.
• Disconnect all CIP connections.
• Complete appropriate logs and reporting documents, including signatures.
• Immediately report to supervisor any unusual occurrences that might affect proper cleaning results.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Skills and Qualifications

• Must meet a qualifying score for mechanical aptitude
• Shall have attended a Chemical Safety Training session within the past 12 months.
• Shall have attended GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness, and Allergen Training.
• Received training in all appropriate PCs.
• Shall meet all requirements of the SQF Program.
• Shall comply with all GMP Requirements.
• Shall comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment as defined by appropriate plant procedures.
• Shall comply with all Safety Rules and Policies.
