Role and Responsibilities
The Human Resources and Safety Generalist at FabLite in beautiful Ludington, Michigan supports both employees and management in a manufacturing environment. They will focus their efforts on the training and development of new employees, keeping Fab-Lite legally compliant in areas concerning FMLA, FLSA, OSHA, EEOC and other pertinent legal entities; processing payroll and benefit administration, and leading and supporting the safety initiatives of the facility.
Core Responsibilities
- Help manage full cycle recruiting and employee management, including: job postings, pre-employment vetting; coordinating interviews, job offers, pre-hire training, and onboarding of new employees. Screen all pre-hire candidates: run background checks, reference checks, and ensure all pre-hire paperwork is accurately completed. Administration of termination process, including exit interviews.
- Provide performance management support - including Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs)
- Provide timely ongoing support to managers and employees on human resource-related matters
- Ensure safety training requirements are completed and uploaded for auditing purposes
- Investigate accidents/incidents/near misses and conduct or support weekly safety meetings with safety manager and production leaders to implement and ensure completion of corrective actions
- Conduct or support employee training in areas of PIT, LOTO and other OSHA required training
- Process and ensure payroll is processed in a timely and accurate manner and review accuracy of payroll deductions
- Process voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments;
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal payroll requirements
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information;
- Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs such as the profit sharing and 401K plan, health, dental and vision plan, life and disability plans, family medical leave, cafeteria plan, etc.;
- Work with internal and external parties for audits of 401(k) and Workers Compensation, and other plans; and work with benefits broker for accuracy of benefits deductions and recordkeeping
- Administer benefit plans by assisting with employee questions and requests, ensuring accurate and timely contributions to the plan administrators, and maintaining written procedures as needed
- Perform other duties as required
Minimum Requirements
- Be an excellent communicator – both verbally and in written correspondence
- Have at least an associate’s degree, but preferably a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field
- Have 2+ year(s) of Human Resources experience
- Be proficient in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Exhibit a high energy level; be able to seize opportunities and also be action-oriented
- Be able to deal with ambiguity, cope effectively with change (can "shift gears" comfortably) and deal with multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously; Be willing to take risks and to analyze successes and failures for clues to improvement while providing direct, current and complete feedback to others
- Exhibit composure and poise under pressure, manage personal stress and deal with frustration in a positive manner. Able to seek common ground in confrontation.
- Must have experience start to finish with Workers Comp Claims, FMLA paperwork, Unemployment Claims, etc.

Successful candidates:
- Will pass pre-employment drug screen with satisfactory results.

- Can perform the physical requirements of the position which requires prolonged standing/walking, lifting up to 30 pounds and other activities necessary to perform the essential job duties with or without assistance.
