The HR Generalist is an experienced professional and solutions-driven leader focused on carrying out responsibilities in all HR functional areas while being an employee advocate who models our values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety. This position reports to the site HR Manager / Business Partner and is actively engaged with employees and leadership in all areas of the mill and manufacturing environment.
As the HR Generalist, you will:
- Administer various aspects of the organization’s compensation and benefit, recruitment, employee development, organization development, and employee relations programs
- Ensure consistent management application of Company and mill specific policies
- Maintain accurate employee records regarding pay rates, shift details, promotions, transfers, leaves of absence, etc.
- Manage the employee recruitment and selection process for both hourly and salary positions and oversee new hire onboarding
- Partner with the Training Coordinator to administer the hourly work system (level advancement)
- Keep up-to-date with the employee relations climate in the organization
- Administers day-to-day performance management activities (employee coaching, career development, corrective action)
- Coordinates community involvement initiatives and mill employee event
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelors degree preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of human resources experience required (7+ preferred), manufacturing environment strongly preferred; an associate or bachelors degree in HR, or the PHR/SPHR certification, may be considered in combination with HR experience
- Must have experience as first point of contact for employees; coaching and performance management, and collaborative conflict resolution
- A strong understanding of applicable federal and state employment laws
- Proficient computer skills and experience in an HRIS system; SAP experience is a plus
- Must be comfortable in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing business needs
- Must possess a strong attention to detail and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
