Job Summary
We are seeking a HVAC- Mechanic for our Facilities group in our Mattawan, MI location.
Job Summary: An HVAC Mechanic is responsible for advanced efficiency tests, repairs, and maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and may be involved in mechanical project design and schematic drawing review. The individual in this role is skilled specialist who will assist team members with responding to customer inquiries and making recommendation for efficiency improvements.
- Install, repair, and perform routine and non-routine procedures on facility HVAC systems.
- Perform efficiency tests on HVAC equipment.
- Assist with technical questions and mentor lower level mechanical staff.
- Repair and maintain circulation pumps and associated piping.
- Operate and adjust chiller and boiler systems repairing as needed.
- Respond to customers, study directors, and managers with corrective correspondence for good laboratory practices (GLP) documentation errors and deviations.
- Provide project team with solutions and design criteria needed for internal mechanical projects.
- Select and order replacement parts for projects, repairs, and inventory.
- Other duties as assigned.
Shift M-F 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM
There is weekend rotation schedule (subject to change) that entails working 12 hours on Saturday and Sunday. It is 5 times a year that an employee works the weekend. New hires are not put into this rotation until they have worked on site for 3+ months.
The pay range for this position starts at $26/hr plus a 10 percent shift differential. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
Job Qualifications
- HS/GED with 5 or more years of relevant experience. HVAC degree with 1 or more years of relevant experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
- Demonstrated ability to: follow procedures and policies; solve problems; work independently; and work effectively as a member of a team.
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of environmental control systems and how they operate the facility.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing at all levels inside and outside the organization.
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions, including the ability to learn a validated system.
- Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to evenings, weekends, extended shifts, and/or extra shifts; sometimes on short notice.
- Ability to work under specific time constraints.
