Who we want:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated HVAC Technician to join our dynamic Facilities team at The World’s Largest Underground Business Complex, SubTropolis, working under the direction of the Manager, Facilities and/or appropriate lead. All Facilities team members must join the Heavy Laborer’s Union 663 representing our Facilities team members after 30 days of employment.Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems
The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualities:
- Demonstrated proficiency in diagnosing and repairing HVAC systems
- Strong commitment to proactive maintenance practices, including regular inspections, cleaning, and servicing to ensure optimal performance and longevity of HVAC systems
- Knowledge of industry best practices, codes, and regulations related to HVAC systems
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on delivering efficient and effective solutions.
- Proven ability to work independently and proactively manage service requests and maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
- Possession of an EPA 608 license, preferably Universal, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of environmental regulations related to HVAC systems.
- Meticulous in conducting inspections, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with tenants and team members
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities and emerging HVAC challenges.
What you’ll do
As an HVAC Technician in SubTropolis, your role will be essential in maintaining the optimal performance of HVAC systems. Conducting regular preventative maintenance, and collaborating with internal teams and external contractors will be crucial to prevent breakdowns and coordinate repairs and installations. Regular inspection of HVAC systems is paramount to minimizing the number of service requests.
You will also respond to service requests, diagnose issues, and promptly resolve them to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for our tenants. Staying up to date on industry advancements to continuously enhance your HVAC knowledge and skills will be essential to your professional development, and to the smooth operation of our facility.
Your essential duties:
- Conducting regular inspections and maintenance tasks on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and adherence to ASHRAE Standards and best practices.
- Responding promptly to service requests and troubleshooting HVAC issues to determine the root cause and implement effective solutions.
- Performing repairs, replacements, and installations of HVAC system components, including motors, fans, filters, thermostats, and electrical connections.
- Testing system functionality and conducting quality control checks to verify proper operation.
- Maintaining accurate records of all service activities, including completed tasks, materials used, and hours worked.
- Collaborating with other team members, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient resolution of HVAC-related issues.
- Staying up to date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in HVAC systems.
- Duties are not limited to those described above. Others may be assigned periodically by management.
Tools for success:
- EPA 608 certification, preferably Universal, demonstrating expertise in handling refrigerants
- Proven experience in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of HVAC systems
- Strong knowledge of HVAC principles, practices, codes, and regulations
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics related to HVAC systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure
- Strong communication and customer service skills to interact with tenants and colleagues
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks efficiently
