NMA has adopted a positive and proactive approach with respect to scholar behavior and believes in a practical coaching model that helps scholars learn replacement behaviors when their behaviors prevent engagement, academic success, and/or positive relationships with peers and adults. The Impact Coach will guide NMA’s Impact Coach(es) to create the conditions for scholars to choose to change their behaviors to better serve their individual needs and goals.
This position is a member of the school’s Leadership Team, Impact Team, Champion Leadership Team, Crisis Management Team, MTSS team, PBIS team, and Student Assessment Team.
Candidates who are currently obtaining their administrator’s license or who have recently attained their license and are seeking a school leadership position are highly encouraged to apply.

- An equity leader who:

- Grounds conversations about student behavior in equity.
- Develops collaborative relationships with teachers while implementing interventions for scholars as needed.
- Engages in hard conversations with teachers.
- Creates and plans professional development for staff regarding behavior support and Tier 2 interventions.
- A skilled behavior interventionist who:

- Explores and understands the most recent research and strategies related to effective behavior intervention and support.
- Maintains NMA’s list of majors and minor behaviors.
- Identifies and implements responses to student behavior infractions: initiates, prepares for, and facilitates intervention planning meetings with teacher(s) to establish appropriate interventions for identified scholars.
- Progress monitors the intervention’s impact on the scholar’s behavior.
- Follows up all meetings with appropriate documentation and ongoing stakeholder communication (teachers, families, scholars, administrators).
- Develops lessons and provides individualized and small group support to students based on the needs of student(s) including social and emotional learning.
- Follows mandatory reporting procedures.
- Inspires a high-functioning school community built on recognition for positive behaviors.
- Develops positive and professional relationships with scholars and families with the intent to educate families about NMA’s values.
- Establishes and cultivates effective relationships with staff to maintain a positive school culture.
- Models and enforces the RHINO Way; reteaches elements of the RHINO Way as needed.
- Initiates and coordinates home visits related to scholar behavior or other needs.
- A coordinator of NMA’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) for student behavior who:

- Supports with the implementation of PBIS in all tiers. Oversees the PBIS Coordinator and reports Tier One progress to the Impact Team.
- Sets the vision, analyzes data, and provides feedback and training to teachers regarding the PBIS system.
- Maintains accurate records using NMA’s data warehouses. Identifies Tier 2 scholars using data.
- Analyzes and interprets NMA’s tiered behavioral data. Reports the progress of Tier 2 and Tier 3 scholars to the Impact Team and school administrators.
- Regularly reviews and assesses the efficacy of NMA’s systems of support and recommends improvements to the administrative team.
- Attends conferences, workshops, and meetings to further develop leadership, PBIS, MTSS, and other skills appropriate to this position.
- Creates and manages the behavioral system that recognizes positive behavior.
- Collaborates with the operations team on security drills and safety and security policies/procedures
- Manages the security of scholars and staff within the building and during recess and field trips.
- Performs duties as assigned by the principal.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, behavioral science or a related field is required
- Administrators license (or in progress) highly preferred
- strong interpersonal skills; ability to work across multiple levels with various cultures as needed
