Job Title: Industrial Maintenance Technician/Electrical

Reports To: Maintenance Leader
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Pay: $30-$35/hr.
Job Summary:
The primary role of the Industrial Maintenance Technician/Electrical is to safely troubleshoot, repair, replace and commission industrial production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime is achieved.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Industrial Electrical certified up to 480 volts
- Experience diagnosing equipment electrical failures including drives, relays, contactors, and transformers.
- 3 -5 years’ industrial electrical experience required.
Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge of Rockwell and Siemens PLC is preferred along with a background in machine process control (Marcal uses Rockwell and Siemens servo control systems along with advanced networking communications, including Ethernet and SERCOS protocols)
- Ability to utilize a controls laptop to diagnose complex equipment failures pertaining to software and machine logic.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to Outlook e-mail, and Microsoft Suite applications.
- Knowledge of electrical theory and principles of operation
- Standard knowledge of product specifications, quality requirements, production goals, efficiency, and waste
- Strong analytical skills, understanding of cause-and-effect logic.
- Ability to perform accurate industrial electrical and mechanical repairs up to 480 volts.
- Problem solving experience/capability.
- Demonstrated safe, effective use of hand, maintenance, power, and shop tools. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude.
- Must have good communication skills and be able to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Knowledge of basic web handling with industrial experience is desired with focus on paper products converting, packaging being a plus.
- Visual acuity
- Ability to climb, stoop, reach, bend on continuous basis; 50-pound minimum lifting.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and as a team utilizing mechanical and analytical aptitude.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure maintenance activities performed on equipment meet or exceed the manufacturer’s requirements for quality and reliability.
- Ensure manufacturer warranties remain effective by adhering to necessary safeguards and guidelines.
- Perform troubleshooting, machine repairs, and replace components, as required.
- Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of machines and plants systems.
- Perform equipment repairs including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic.
- Proper use of test equipment to logically troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
- Fabricate equipment as required.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Perform accurate record keeping, as required.
- Maintain plant support systems in working order, i.e., heat, air, fans, air compressors and dryers, etc.
- Responsible for housekeeping in parts room, shop and air compressor rooms and production work areas. Ensure work areas are neat, organized, and free of safety hazards.
- Ensure production area floors and equipment are free from excess spare parts, worn parts, debris, and other items not necessary for operating and maintaining production equipment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and Company safety rules and regulations; communicate as appropriate.
- Adhere to the Company on call policy and maintain an on-call status on either an intermittent or regularly scheduled basis.
- Maintain an open line of communication between peers, shifts, and leaders to ensure effective reporting of equipment deficiencies and repairs are reported in a timely manner.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and Company safety rules and regulations.
- Adhere to all company policy and procedures.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function of this position.
