INDUSTRIAL PAINTER/SANDBLASTER – Experienced and Trainee
Extreme Coatings Inc. (ECI) strives to provide top-notch industrial rehabilitation and specialty coating services on large steel and concrete structures and lead abatement. Projects include water storage tanks, water and wastewater treatment plants, large structures on dams, and other industrial facilities. Projects are located primarily (but not exclusively) in the Pacific Northwest—Washington, Oregon, Idaho, & Montana. Regular weekly travel is required.
We are seeking skilled hands-on industrial painters and/or sandblasters/abrasive blasters, based in Pasco, WA (Tri-Cities area ONLY) that are willing to travel. ECI is an SSPC QP-1 & QP-2 certified contractor. Successful candidate skills and traits:
- Ability to regularly travel, (travel is typically every week, home on the weekends typically).
- 3+ years’ experience with INDUSTRIAL painting and/or abrasive blasting. Epoxy, polyurethane, vinyl, plural component, etc., coatings. Conventional & airless spray application.
- SSPC C7 Abrasive Blast, C12 Spray Application or Coatings Applicator Specialist (CAS) Level II (or higher) is desired or ability to successfully pass SSPC CAS certification exams.
- NACE or SSPC Coatings inspection certification is desired.
- Candidate must know how to safely and properly set up and operate abrasive blast equipment as well as conventional, airless and plural component spray equipment.
- Must know how to read and interpret product data and safety data sheet information, and properly mix and thin industrial and specialty coatings.
- Must be able to pass a skills test for sandblasting & painting using conventional spray pump and demonstrate ability to spray for mil thickness.
- Prior experience with epoxy, urethane, polyurea materials, as well as fall protection, respirators and PPE relevant to this line of work, confined space and lead/hazardous paint removal,
- Candidate needs to be able to spray apply a variety of products in a consistent mil thickness as well as know how to check for surface profile, WFT and DFT measurements.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Possesses honesty, integrity, good work ethic, motivation and a willingness to learn.
- Be able to follow direction and work productively with minimal supervision.
- Is a problem-solver.
- Has reliable transportation and the ability to report for work on time each day.
- Must be in good physical condition able to continuously lift 50+ lbs. and be without physical limitations that would preclude strenuous activity. Successful candidate must pass a respiratory and fitness for duty physical exam.
- Fluently read, write, and communicate in English and have basic math abilities.
- Be able to read and comprehend technical documents such as product data sheets and industry standards.
- Must have mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and solve/repair basic equipment issues.
- Current valid Driver's License without excessive driving violations. Driving record will be required if offer is extended.
*Position requires regular weekly travel and occasional overtime. Home most weekends. Whenever possible, ECI crew works a four-day, 10-hour work schedule, however this is subject to change depending on project and client needs.
ECI is a Drug Free Workplace, must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to random and for cause drug testing at any time, in relation to DOT federal guidelines.
