Information Technology Specialist II
Job description
This challenging position will focus on analyzing, troubleshooting, and solving problems with workstation hardware, software, peripherals, and network connectivity; reviewing, prioritizing, and responding to service desk tickets regarding technical issues and problems; answering user questions and training users in the use of applications and computer equipment. The ITS II also provides level 1 and level 2 user support; imaging, installation, and configuration of computers and software; participates in projects and leads some small projects.
The IT Division is located on the seventeenth floor of the Hennepin County Government Center at 300 South 6th Street, A-1720, Minneapolis, MN 55487. Court business hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday, however, hours for this position may vary depending on business need. This position is currently hybrid, working both remotely and onsite, which may change depending on business needs. Interviews will be conducted virtually via Teams.

- Provide best in class technical support for Windows applications and computers, tablets, mobile devices, printers, scanners, kiosks, public terminals, video conferencing, and other court technology.
- Troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues on a variety of technology within our six district court locations remotely and in-person.
- Maintain high standards of customer service when responding to IT Service Desk tickets, telephone calls and emails where the customer's technology needs and service expectations come second to none.
- Provide personalized training on the use of court applications in-person and remotely to ensure the best customer service possible.
- Maintain the asset database with accurate and up-to-date information for asset inventory tracking, recycling, and retirement of assets.
- Create and update knowledge base, user instructional materials, and other technical documentation.
- Imaging, testing, configuration, and installation or replacement of new equipment.
- Provide physical installation and setup of technology for new hires and staff/judicial moves within the six district court locations.
- Provide a variety of IT support and assistance for projects and initiatives as directed.
- Assist the Network team with vulnerability management of assets.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Associate degree in an IT-related field and two (2) years of experience in the field of information technology, including experience in desktop and network support, hardware maintenance, and basic project management principles, OR- High School or equivalent with three (3) years of experience in the field of information technology, including experience in desktop and network support, hardware.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and products that include Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Office 365, and SharePoint.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to non-technical employees.
- Ability to learn new skills and improve level of IT knowledge.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong customer-service orientation and the ability to develop effective working relationships across the organization.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to work in a team environment or independently.
- Experience working with video conferencing, audio systems, interactive television (ITV), and other video/audio technology.
- Experience working in a high-volume service desk environment, providing user support in a Windows environment.
- Experience using enterprise tools for imaging and configuring of desktop and laptop computers; supporting personal and networked printers; and installing and supporting software applications.
- Basic knowledge of court practices, procedures, terminology, and applications.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-directed, motivated, and capable of taking the lead role in small projects or assignments; project management experience using Project Management Institute methodologies.

The expected starting salary range for external candidates is $22.96-$31.39 per hour ($47,940.48-$65,542.32 annually). The full salary range for this position is $22.96-$39.83 per hour ($47,490.48-$83,165.04 annually). This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for State of Minnesota employee benefits.
