b.) Install and operate a variety of computers and peripherals such as hard disk, modems, printers, and related equipment. E
c.) Inspect and arrange for maintenance of hardware and software as required; perform routine maintenance and repairs; and assist in the installation of new equipment. E
d.) Assists in the training of staff to provide technical and instructional support for students and staff using adapted technology. E
e.) Serve as resource person to external agencies and campus entities dealing with issues of and requirements germane to access technology. E
f.) Provide technical assistance to campus instructional and technology committees on access requirements for persons with disabilities. E
g.) Evaluate and recommend purchases of computer adapted software or hardware; design layouts and provide technical support related to purchase of computers and peripherals for access by students with disabilities; research pricing, compatibility, and availability of equipment. E
h.) Assist in research and development activities for new adapted software or hardware that may be suitable for implementation in College environment. E
i.) Maintain currency of technological advances in the computer field; attend seminars, trade shows, vendor demonstrations, and product training sessions. E
j.) Maintain records and inventory for assigned laboratories; provide security for software and hardware. E
k.) Generate presentations including color transparencies, posters, flyers, and graphs as needed.
l.) Provide work direction to student workers as assigned.

Ability to:
- Program in assigned computer languages currently in use at the College.
- Operate compatible personal computers and peripheral equipment.
- Install and maintain adapted computer hardware and software.
- Perform routine maintenance, repair, and upgrades as needed.
- Critique and select computer hardware and software.
- Work within a mainframe computer environment.
- Produce text into alternate media.
- Compile and maintain accurate and complete records and files and prepare reports.
- Train and provide direction to others in the use of adaptive technology.
- Work with and exhibit sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse racial, ethnic, disabled, sexual orientation, and cultural populations of community college students.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

Physical Abilities:
- Sitting or standing for prolonged periods of time.

- Seeing to observe students, view a computer monitor, and to read and verify accuracy of data.
- Lifting of moderately heavy computers and related equipment.
