Position Summary

This role is responsible for conducting instruction and training on Signals Intelligence (SI) and Electronic Warfare (EW) technology, tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs). This work involves both classroom and field instruction and training as well as creating, planning, and participating in military exercises as a SI Instructor. This role may also involve SI and EW support in an operational capacity in support of U.S government missions overseas on a volunteer basis.

Essential Functions Statement

  • Conduct in-person classroom training and instruction on Radio Frequency theory, communications technology, SI collection and analysis, airborne SI and EW operations, and TTPs focused on planning and executing SI operations.
  • Serve as a SI Instructor on military training exercises by providing live signal environments, scripting and scenario development, managing role players, and mentoring military SI/EW personnel on SI/EW operations and TTPs.
  • Plan and execute custom full spectrum exercises. Specific duties may include scenario development and scripting, logistical planning, establishment of target packages, creating complex live signal environments, managing SI role players, and overseeing the execution of the exercise.
  • May serve in the billet of SI SME in support of U.S. government missions overseas.
  • Conduct syllabus reviews in coordination with other instructors and the Program Manager to ensure syllabus design supports the customer requirements.
  • Maintain and continually increase proficiency in SI/EW equipment, technology, tactics, techniques, and procedures.

  • Must possess a basic working understanding of SI collection management, computer networking, radio frequency theory, antenna construction/employment, and telecommunications technology to include, but not limited to: HF/VHF/UHF, DMR, GSM, CDMA, UMTS, LTE, and WiFi/802.xx.
  • Must possess excellent communications skills and be comfortable with public speaking and instructing classes.
  • Must be able to accomplish all duties with little or no assistance.
  • Must have good command of the English language; oral and written.


Supervisory Responsibility

This role has no administrative supervisory responsibilities but may have limited supervisory responsibilities during certain training events.


Work Environment

This job primarily operates in an office/classroom environment in both CONUS and OCONUS locations but may also involve working in a tactical field environment or austere locations overseas.


Physical Demands

The classroom work associated with this role is largely sedentary. However, the SI Instructor may be required to carry equipment and lift boxes, as well as stand for long periods outdoors in severe weather conditions. Some advanced courses require significantly higher physical abilities, but personnel will not be required for such work unless they volunteer and are separately screened and selected.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shift may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.

Facility Location: Remote


Travel

Travel requirements are: 50% CONUS minimum. More travel may be available on request.


Education and Experience

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Required Experience

  • Instructor Level 3: 10 years’ experience conducting SI/EW operations and/or training, including at least two operational deployments as a SI/EW operator.


Preferred Experience

  • Active duty SI/EW experience with an Honorable Discharge.
  • Previously held the active duty grade of E-5 or higher.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience assigned to a Special Operations Forces organization.


Certificates and Licenses

Required:

  • Instructor Level 3: HAM Radio Amateur General License and LINUX Academy Fundamentals (to be attained within 6 months of hire).


Preferred:

  • Alpha28 HF, DLMC, ANC, CANO, CATS, RCO course graduate.
  • Current or previous instructor certifications in Modes 1/2/3/5/6.


Work Authorization/Security Clearance

  • Employee must be a US citizen and not hold dual citizenship with another country.
  • Employee must be able to hold and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Clearance Level (minimum of 2 years current active TS/SCI Clearance).
  • Ability to operate on or receive access to NSAnet databases.
