GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Responsible for analysis, design, development, testing and support of interfaces. Responsible for day-to-day interface activities including monitoring interfaces, handling and tracking errors, developing solutions to fix errors and ongoing reporting to identify areas that need attention. Responsible for development and maintenance of detailed interface documentation/specifications. Develops, documents and supports other computer programs necessary for interfaces. Participates in integration of projects from start to finish ensuring timely and accurate transmission of data between administrative, clinical and financial systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides technical guidance and coaching/mentoring to other Information Technology team members as pertains to the operation and maintenance of PHC's interfaces.
  • Acts as principal liaison between application teammates and Information Technology.
  • Acts as the principal technical point of contact with the interface engine vendor.
  • Communicates, consults, and coordinates across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Assists with the design and ongoing development of the interface engine
  • Responsible for communicating system changes to end users and training staff.
  • Performs system analysis and reviews vendor release notes, pending enhancements, upcoming releases, etc.
  • Responsible for testing all interfaces after configuration changes, upgrades, customizations, etc.
  • Responsible for identifying and ensuring that all data flows correctly across all interfaces.
  • Responsible for identifying and managing application errors and LIS enhancement requests.
  • Responsible for managing the various application error queues in the service desk software application.
  • Assists in developing cost estimates for interface capital projects
  • Makes recommendations to improve security and participates in investigations as needed.
  • Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:

Education:

  • Associate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science with four years of experience OR Bachelor's Degree with three years of experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience working with, deploying and/or administering interface solutions, utilizing HL7, Java, and scripting experience (SQL preferred)
  • Require 3+ years’ experience working with Orion’s Rhapsody Interface Engine
  • Prefer recent experience in a healthcare setting.

REQUIREMENTS:

Member of after-hours on-call team.

Therefore, IT team members are expected to have a good working knowledge of the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules. IT team members are expected to exemplary practitioners of all PHC policies pertaining to privacy and cybersecurity and resources for other PHC team members to consult with questions about privacy and cybersecurity best practices.

  • ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Office setting, computer facility, and clinical offices. Local travel may be required. Call rotation for off-hours problem resolution is required.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Standing, sitting for long periods while doing computer input and responding to phone questions. Must have ability to bend, stoop, twist and work with computer equipment. Occasional stress in working with tense users and multiple tasks.
