Job Summary
The Internal Communications Specialist will conceive, develop, and execute communication strategies and campaigns aimed at engaging and informing Purple People across different audiences with specific messaging. This position will report to the Employee Engagement Manager and will partner closely with different teams and leaders across Purple while demonstrating the ability to solve complex problems and to maintain a flexible and solution-oriented mindset. This position will put communication plans into action, creating and crafting compelling written and visual communications for multiple audiences while using different channels including company-wide Town Halls, the Purple’s Intranet called “The Grid”, slide presentations, email newsletters, flyers, and texts. This position will track the effectiveness of our communication plans and strategies and apply the learnings to make the communications process more efficient for future projects. This position will work effectively with teammates and internal clients alike, influence at all levels, adapt quickly when needed, and be willing to support projects outside of the core role to help advance Purple’s purpose and values.
Job Description
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and execute communication strategies.
  • Develop audience-specific messaging.
  • Assist in drafting messages for senior leaders.
  • Advise key internal stakeholders on employee engagement and culture initiatives ensuring alignment with Purple’s employer brand.
  • Understand and anticipate communication needs and address them as appropriate.
  • Track effectiveness of communication campaigns and change course based on feedback and platform analytics.
  • Create and advise on high quality, compelling communications at every organizational level, for a variety of channels (e.g., email, presentations, posters, live events, videos, intranet)
  • Supports special initiatives as needed.

  • Proven consulting skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization successfully advising, guiding, and influencing key stakeholders.
  • Exceptional and effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and foster collaboration and teamwork.
  • Established capability to create compelling and informative visuals for internal marketing with a proficient use of tools such as Canva.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills using a structured approach.
  • Demonstrated change management communication skills related to employee experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience utilizing a variety of employee communication vehicles.
  • Ability to extract, assess, and simplify information from a variety of sources to present in a clear manner, using a variety of communication channels.
  • Ability to generate and implement innovative ideas to engage and inform stakeholders.
  • Strong survey writing and development skills to provide insights on effective communication.
  • Strong understanding of current/future workplace trends that impact a highly diverse employee base.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Delivers input into new processes, standards, or plans that impact overall company or department results.
  • Leverages a systems-thinking approach for improving existing processes and systems within the department using significant conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation.
Job Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BA/BFA degree in Communications or other related discipline preferred, with 3 years' experience in the internal communications space.
Work Location:
  • This position is based in our Lehi, Utah office with a hybrid work option of working a few days in the office and a couple of days at home that the employee can set based on personal needs.
