Job description
This project focuses on three cultural complexes in the Gold Butte area that are well known and receive heavy visitation by the public. The three complexes include: Whitney Pocket, an area currently designated as an ACEC containing one historic Civilian Conservation Corps camp and one prehistoric rock shelter and roasting pit site; Falling Man Rock Writing Complex; and Kirk’s Grotto Site Complex, a slot canyon containing a number of petroglyph panels. Youth Technicians are an important component in the effort to protect and restore the value of these resources and values. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain training, experience, and skills in interpretation while helping the District accomplish priority resource protection, building lasting relationships with the community and Native Tribes. BLM specialists in recreation and natural resources will guide the Technician in completing the work, as well as providing insights into resource management and career opportunities.

Member Duties : • Research and investigation of three (3) cultural resource complexes. • Develop education and information kiosk for each of the three cultural resource complexes. • Prepare for production the developed interpretative kiosks. • Coordinate and collaborate with BLM recreational and Tribal Liaison • Aid in the connective of the Native American Heritage to the local community and visiting public. • Compiling information and design content to engage the public with Gold Butte’s complexes. • Developing brochures and pamphlets for the public • Creation of a Junior Ranger Book for the cultural complexes
