Howmet Aerospace is searching for an Inventory Analyst to join our Howmet Wheel Systems (HWS) business unit in Cleveland, OH.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure system inventory (Oracle) accurately reflects physical counts.
  • Identify and analyze root causes of inventory discrepancies and provide resolutions.
  • Develop process improvements to help achieve location and BU inventory goals.
  • Institute cycle counting procedures and ensure compliance at all inventory carrying locations.
  • Help drive initiatives to reduce slow moving and obsolete inventories.
  • Create inventory reports that document inventory counts, discrepancies, and other data relevant to making decision recommendations.
  • Oracle item set ups.
  • Make system inventory adjustments when warranted.
  • Establish a process to ensure that all system quantity discrepancies are reported to the appropriate production planner.
  • Help develop and implement inventory dashboard(s) for the purposes of management review and analysis.
  • Develop process improvements related to systematic and physical inventory.

Major Activities:

  • Continuously evaluate WIP (machine, polish items) inventory levels to ensure protection against over- and under-built positions.
  • Participate in regular production management meetings with multi-functional teams representing both machining and finishing operations.
  • Serve as a key driver of weekly production planning meetings.
  • Procure and manage component inventory such as labels and valve stems.
  • Ensure efficient and effective deployment/utilization of resources to meet demand.
  • Utilize tools such as HWS’s NE100 to ensure corporate delivery performance objectives are met .
  • Develop, maintain, and act on daily/weekly/monthly distribution operations metrics.
  • Coordinate inbound material deliveries to the distribution facility.
  • Work with 3 rd party distribution facility manager to ensure that all operational costs are managed to optimal levels.
  • Create distribution center volume forecasts and ensure that site manager is planning operations accordingly.
  • Develop and implement tools to evaluate inventory levels and recommend strategies for HWS.
  • Perform Oracle item set-ups.
  • Serve as a project lead within the Supply Chain team as improvement opportunities are identified.
  • Train all levels of HWS Associates and Outside Sourcing Partners in the physical and virtual Supply Chain tools and concepts. This includes formal classroom training and informal one-on-one training on the floor.
  • Serve as a backup to the other Production Planners during their planned and unplanned time away from the workplace, helping to coordinate the schedules and activities of the forge, machine, polish and finishing operations.
  • Coach and lead improvement activities among production resources to maintain data integrity within Oracle manufacturing systems such as daily production transactions, inventory on-hand balances, and customer shipments.
  • Coordinate and lead the maintenance and improvement of Oracle manufacturing and planning data systems to support the manufacturing process and provide information for capacity and planning processes.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Supply Chain, Logistics, or related degree, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a related field is required.
  • Strong MS Excel skills: Ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, add and delete data, create and edit charts, enter, format, filter and sort data lists, link data, create and edit charts, produce graphs, and design and maintain relevant charts.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with the HWS Cleveland, OH, distribution center operations team.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-changing environment.
  • Ability to project confidence and leadership in interactions with representatives of multiple functional groups, including manufacturing leads.
  • Extensive and thorough knowledge of Excel (ability to use pivot tables, goal seek, macros and complex formula building functionalities) and SharePoint is a requirement. Working knowledge of Power BI desired.
  • 3 to 5 years’ working experience with an ERP (preferably Oracle EBS), along with a proficiency in the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
