Inventory Specialist
Job description
Distributor/Processor of flat rolled steel coils located in Wixom is looking for a full time Inventory Specialist to add to our Production Department. Under direction of the Operations Manager the Inventory Specialist will be tasked with the following responsibilities which include but are not limited to.
· Assist Inventory Department with daily procedures such as receiving material, updating material releases, processing production reports, writing up work orders and purchase orders for processing and updating inventory data as changes happen.
· Daily input and tracking of steel sample testing results provided by in-house steel testing laboratory. Collaborate with both lab and warehouse personnel to ensure steel samples are tested within 72 hours of being received.
· Coordinate and work with multiple internal departments including sales, finance and logistics as needed to complete projects.
· Weekly/monthly monitoring of scrap levels within inventory. Follow through with procedures related to getting material scrapped and invoiced.
· Monitor inventory data within Microsoft Excel to identify missing information that will be vital to the final sale of material.
· Prepare and share information at monthly inventory meeting to address problematic material that is on hold, has operational issues, outside processor complications, etc.
· Maintain contact with outside vendors/processors and provide updates to coils being processed at the facility.
· Track and communicate lead times for external processing of material located at numerous facilities across Eastern United States.
· Occasional project management as assigned by Operations or General Manager.
The candidate for this position will need to be able to multitask while maintaining accuracy. Be computer literate and have superior customer service skills. A large portion of this job is based on communication with internal and external customers and updating information in (SSCS) Steel Service Center Software.
