Jewish Family Service is currently seeking a full-time (37.5 hours per week) Food Bank Inventory Specialist to join our team. This position plays a vital role in our food access programs which include the Polack Food Bank, Food Bank Home Delivery, monthly Eastside Food Bank, and newly developing projects. This position is involved in major events such as the Annual Food Drive/Food Sort and holiday programs.Work is performed primarily out of the Seattle office with some weekend shifts (Sundays 1-2 times per month). Physical labor and heavy lifting is required daily. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Take primary responsibility for managing inventory including daily picking up, receiving, and unpacking of deliveries; tracking and ordering items in a timely manner; rotating products before they spoil; and cultivating relationships with vendors and donors.
· Serves as point person for day-to-day food bank operations including being on-site for case manager visits, community donations and inquires.
· Staffs food bank during distribution hours, assisting with set-up, providing customer service to clients during check-in and food distribution and inputs client information into database.
· Maintains relationships with funders and multiple local farms to grow our local food sourcing and coordinates gleaning schedule with partners and farmer’s markets.
· Participates in special projects such as food drives, packaging events, and other activities.
· Drives commercial type van to pick up or deliver products from/to various locations.
· Provides weekend staffing for home delivery program, gleaning, and special events; provides orientation and supervision for volunteers.
· Participates in the strategic direction of the team including pilot projects such as online ordering.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Must be comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and have familiarity and/or interest in the issues of hunger and homelessness in Seattle; experience in social service setting desired.
· Ability to safely lift 50 lbs repeatedly.
· Excellent customer service, conflict management, written and oral skills.
· Highly organized, detailed, and flexible with ability to work independently and collaboratively.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
· WA State Driver’s License.
· WA State Food Handler’s Permit (can be obtained post-hire).
· Fluency in second language a plus; Chinese or Russian preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
· The pay for this position is $21.60 – $26.40 an hour.
