Job Description
The Director of IT Infrastructure is responsible for developing and implementing strategies for the organization's IT infrastructure, overseeing the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all hardware and core infrastructure software systems, and managing a team of IT professionals.
- Develop and implement the IT infrastructure strategy for the organization, including hardware, core infrastructure software (database, OS, Office365, etc.), and networking.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all hardware and core infrastructure software systems, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and meet the needs of the organization.
- Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, providing guidance and support as needed to ensure the team is working efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure all IT infrastructure systems are in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and standards.
- Work closely with customers and counterparts to deliver solutions in unique matrixed environment.
- Develop and manage the IT infrastructure budget in the context of a DOE subcontract, ensuring expenditures are within approved limits and providing regular reports to senior management.
- Ensure the IT infrastructure is scalable and adaptable to meet the changing needs of the organization, including disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Develop and maintain relationships with customers, vendors and suppliers, ensuring the organization is receiving quality products and services at competitive prices.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in IT infrastructure, evaluating their potential impact on the organization and making recommendations for adoption where appropriate.
- Collaborate with other departments within and outside the organization to ensure the IT infrastructure is aligned with the overall business goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement IT policies and procedures, ensuring they are clearly communicated and followed by all members of the organization.
- Ensure highly available operating environments utilizing secured on premise, hosted, SaaS, PaaS and cloud platforms.
- Maintain accurate system and network procedures and documentation for standards, assets, circuits, inventories, security configurations, audit controls, etc.
- Ensure standards are followed including those provided by security, audit, and best practices.
- Develop and maintain a disaster recovery/business continuity plan. Work with IT leaders to test and ensure an actionable recovery.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of technologies, architectures, and systems relevant to operations.
- Lead critical troubleshooting efforts and provide direction for issues in conjunction with vendors and infrastructure environments.
- Develop and maintain security and assess control on systems and networks in collaboration with Security team to deliver projects, incident management needs and monitoring.
- Evaluate current infrastructure investments and drive efficiencies for performance and financials.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of technologies and languages in Operational platforms such as, but not limited to: Linux, Unix, VMWare, Microsoft Server, Microsoft Azure Amazon Web Services, NetApp, Cisco LAN/WAN/wireless/US
- Deep understanding of hardware scalability, high availability, risk mitigation and best practices of implementing IT infrastructure at scale
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate to all levels of talent
- Solid problem-solving and conflict management skills
Desirable Skills
- Must pass pre-employment background check
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening

- Must be able to obtain and maintain at least a DOE “Q” clearance
- Ability to travel up to 10%
