Technical Support engineers required across permanent and contract vacancies in Dublin, Kilkenny, Waterford, Cork.

GCS are partnered with several customers in Ireland to hire a range of positions within IT Support environments.

IT Technical Support

  • Provide technical support to internal customers in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Performs hands-on technical support at the desktop level, including building/deploying new workstations, installing and upgrading hardware and software, the configuring systems and applications.
  • Ensure that written responses are accurate, professional, clear and concise.
  • Assist where necessary with server room maintenance activities
  • Ensure that customers are provided with relevant user guides and the IT section of the intranet is up to date with relevant content and IT news articles.
  • Ensure positive relationships are built and maintained with all involved parties (business, team, suppliers).
  • General systems support
  • Ensure detailed documentation is produced and maintained up to date at all times.
  • Ensure that regular daily responsibilities are completed on time.
  • Ensure that audit requirements are met in day-to-day operations.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of the provided services
  • Ensure confidentiality of the information provided by customer (i.e. user name, password, others)
  • Ensure backup operations are executed and monitored and potential issues are escalated to the IT HUB
  • Ensure governance processes are implemented and followed.
  • Participate in local IT infrastructure or security related projects.
  • Maintain asset inventory up to date at all times.
  • Constantly educate the business in the value of IT / constraints of IT

Required knowledge/skills:

  • Ability to understand and support Windows 7/10, , MS Office, , SEP, VPN, Active Directory, Exchange
  • Ability to understand and support basics of networking, laptop / desktop, network printers, mobile technology, server technology
  • Ability to explain technical problems to non-technical people.
  • Ability to work towards achieving SLA
  • Ability to understand software packages and related processes, to evaluate them regarding any area and to ensure their implementation
  • Business relationship management

Professional Experience

  • At least 3 years' experience in technical support role in large progressive organisation is required
  • Relevant third level qualification in IT required
  • Experience dealing with all levels of an organisation is essential
  • Strong technical aptitude is essential
