Description:

The Waterpark Cashier is responsible for managing admissions and monitoring attendance into the Itasca Waterpark during public swim hours.

Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • A minimum age of 15 is required for this position; a valid work permit is required if under the age of 16
  • Education???

  • Other certifications may be required as deemed necessary
  • Thorough knowledge of the Itasca Park District Waterpark Cashier Manual
  • Ability to handle money and to process cash, debit and credit card transactions correctly

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification is required on the first day of work
  • Good knowledge of emergency and auxiliary services available in the community when needed in emergency situations
  • Basic knowledge of cash handling and making correct change
  • Basic knowledge of processing cash, debit and credit card transaction and refunds
  • Good knowledge of waterpark rules and regulations
  • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service

Required Competencies:

  • Ability to work under the supervision of the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor and Waterpark Manager to carry out his or her directives
  • Ability to communicate, present ideas and make recommendations orally, in writing and by telephone in a clear, concise manner
  • Capacity to plan, organize, prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to operate the Waterpark Admissions in an organized and efficient manner
  • Ability to demonstrate tact and strong interpersonal skills in maintaining positive, effective working relationships with all employees throughout the Park District

  • Ability to resolve conflicts with the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor, Waterpark Manager, peers, subordinates and other Park District employees in a productive, professional manner

Hours:

Hours of work are generally Sunday through Saturday with variable work shifts averaging four hours per day and between 10 to 40 hours per week. The Waterpark Cashier position is seasonal spanning Memorial Day through Labor Day. Overtime, evening, weekend and holiday work hours may be required as directed and authorized by the Aquatics & Facility Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicates with the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor and Waterpark Manager on issues and activities related to the Waterpark Admissions
  • Reviews and maintains the policies and procedures outlined in the Itasca Park District Procedures Manual with respect to the safe and effective operations of the Recreation & Facilities Department and Safety Program
  • Establishes good working relationships with patrons, the community and the general public
  • Attends work on a regular basis
  • Maintains a clean and organized work environment
  • Performs any additional job duties, which may be considered essential, as assigned by the Aquatic & Facility Supervisor and Waterpark Manager
  • Monitors the waterpark entrance and greets patrons in a friendly manner
  • Manages daily admissions by swiping passes or collecting entrance fees from patrons
  • Sells and processes annual and daily waterpark passes
  • Verifies the validity of passes before admitting patrons to the waterpark
  • Counts patrons and maintains attendance records
  • Opens and closes out the cash register at the beginning and end of shifts and completes appropriate batch and deposit paperwork accurately
  • Completes all necessary cash and inventory forms
  • Sets up equipment and supplies at the beginning of each shift and orders any needed supplies from the Waterpark Manager
  • Cleans designated work areas before, during and after each shift
  • Answers the waterpark telephone and assists both in person and telephone customers in a friendly and courteous manner

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops, promotes and utilizes safe work habits while contributing in every possible manner to the safety of themselves, coworkers and the general public
  • Maintains the waterpark lost and found items

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform light physical work
  • Incumbent will repeatedly stand, sit, walk, stoop, reach, bend, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Ability to lift moderate weights of up to 25 pounds occasionally without assistance. The ability to lift, turn and carry 25 pounds safely, placing the load on a chest-high shelf fulfills this lifting requirement.
  • Work is primarily performed at an outdoor public waterpark where exposure to varying levels of heat, temperature and humidity occurs and exposure to climate extremes is likely
  • Vision is required to read printed materials and a computer screen
  • Hearing and speech is required to communicate in person and over a telephone or radio
  • Exposure to cleaning and office supplies as well as blood and body fluids exposure when rendering first aid and CPR
  • The use of the following personal protective equipment (PPE) is required, based on the assigned job duties:

o Microshield and/or Sealeasy

o Non-latex gloves

o Automated External Defibrillator
o Oxygen

o Hat
