The Job Developer promotes the value of competitive integrated employment and is responsible for creating job opportunities by researching, identifying, and soliciting commitments from possible sources of employment. This position requires close communication and collaboration within the Meaningful Day Services Department. The Job Developer is highly involved with the Discovery process and the Workplace Training Curriculum. Work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, unless job placement duties require an employer visit outside of those core hours.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Consistently report to work on time as scheduled, prepared to perform assigned duties and responsibilities during entire scheduled work period/shift
  • Promote and develop, competitive, integrated employment an on the job training opportunities for Individuals by identifying prospective employers, completing required documentation and maintaining employer relations.
  • Conduct agreed upon employer contacts, both new and follow-up, and document employer information in data base.
  • Demonstrate effectiveness, profitability and added value to the employer's organization of employing individual with disabilities.
  • Develop and implement workplace support plan to establish natural supports within the workplace.
  • Identify workplace challenges and intervention to preserve the integrity of the Individual and to maintain the job placement. Assist employer with problems, complaints and progress of placed adult individuals and recommend corrective actions.
  • Conduct follow-up contact regarding the results of the hiring process and provide Individuals and others with necessary feedback.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and support to Individual and Employer when entering into a new job placement.
  • Initiate and complete informational interviews at area businesses with the goal of workforce development and to gain knowledge about the needs of area businesses. Connections will be made by various methods including cold calling, job fairs, workforce development, Chamber of Commerce, and follow-up on connections gained via other sources.
  • Complete, maintain, and organize accurate records of services provided including business contacts, progress notes, pertinent outcomes data; and other documentation as required by DORS/DDA.
  • Coordinate with job development team weekly regarding employment and community development.
  • Provide follow-up feedback to determine quantity and quality of service provided and status of the Individual's employment.
  • Work closely with employer engaging them as advocates and mediators for Individuals. Partner with employer to provide work accommodations as necessary.
  • Facilitate formal or informal Discovery Process to better access the support needs of the individual for the Job Development process.
  • Support the individual in workplace training curriculum and training classes prior to job development.

Job Qualifications:

  • Must have high school diploma/ GED. AA degree in related field preferred.
  • Must have 2 years' experience working with individuals with Intellectual/ Developmental disabilities.
  • Must be eligible to obtain ACRE certification and become CESP Certified within one year of employment.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be organized and easily adaptable to changing duties and work settings.
  • Must have effective presentation and training delivery skills.
  • Must be able to vary work hours when required by jobs seeker's needs.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the US upon hire.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must pass pre-employment screenings and criminal background checks through CJIS as stated by Family Law Article 5.561.
  • Must have current and valid driver's license in good standing and must be able to provide a driving record that would permit coverage under Benedictine driver's insurance.
