ICHS was founded in 1973, when a small group of community members and medical students created a free health clinic for low-income Chinese and Filipino elders living in Seattle’s International District. In 2018, ICHS was one of only two health centers in Washington State named a National Quality Leader by the Health Resources and Services Administration, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, ICHS achieved the best overall clinical performance among all health centers. In 2017, ICHS received accreditation from the prestigious Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).


The ICHS Job Shadow Program is a one-day clinical observer opportunity.

Students and prospective ICHS job applicants may have the chance to observe an ICHS provider and have direct contact with consenting patients for a single day.

Definitions
Student - anyone who is actively in an accredited WA State educational institution.
Prospective ICHS job applicant - anyone who is seeking employment at ICHS.


If selected, Job Shadow participants will:

1. Complete all paperwork provided by Human Resources, including (but not limited to):

  • Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreement;
  • HIPAA, Privacy, Security and Compliance; and
  • Release of Liability

2. Consent to background checks conducted by Human Resources.
3. Wear a visitor badge identifying their status as a job shadow participant while on site during job shadowing.
4. Comply with the ICHS Infection Prevention and Control Program.
5. Comply with ICHS general standards and guidelines.

a) The job shadow participant will not perform any task that would normally be performed by any ICHS staff member;
b) The job shadow participant will be prohibited from shadowing interactions with children under the age of 18, unless appropriate permission is obtained; and
c) Under no circumstances will the job shadow participant be provided copies of any materials containing PHI. The minimum necessary rule applies.


Must be age 18 or older.
Must be willing to consent to background checks.
Must be able to provide records of the following Tests/Immunizations:
1) TdaP vaccination
2) MMR vaccination (2 doses) OR positive MMR antibody titer (blood test)
3) Varicella vaccination (2 doses) ORpositive varicella antibody titer (blood test) OR a note from your healthcare provider stating you had hx of disease
4) Hepatitis B vaccination (3 doses) and positive Hep B antibody titer (blood test)
5) TB-QFT/TB-TSpot (blood test)(within the past 24 months) OR2 steps of PPD (within the past 12 months) ORChest X-Ray record (within the past 10 years) if you had a history of positive TB tests
6) Flu vaccination for 2022-2023
7) Full COVID-19 vaccination

Please note that the completion of this form does not guarantee that you will be able to participate in the program.
Placements are made based on a number of factors, including provider availability and COVID-19 restrictions.
