Description:

Job Summary:

  • Junior Buyer/Planner role supports purchasing and planning ensuring timely delivery of components and other materials to support production schedules. This position monitors production needs, issues and progress ensuring products can be manufactured and shipped to meet customer requirements and specifications, while exceeding delivery expectations. Assists in scheduling and procurement of material through production planning inputs, determining the quantity and date materials are needed to ensure optimal inventory levels.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Working with planning and procurement maintaining priority schedules for manufacturing & assembly departments.
  • Maintains effective communication with all levels of the organization to assist with the flow of materials and update production status.
  • Take action to expedite backordered, past due, and/or out of stock materials/orders as necessary.
  • Ensures ERP accuracy for work in process status as well as inventory levels.
  • Evaluate cycle counts with a focus on identifying systemic deficiencies.
  • Actively participates in meetings to discuss open issues, commitment dates and production status which may impact OTD.
  • Create/Issue work order packets to the production floor.
  • Solicits quotes on new business to assist in costing for production parts or services as required
  • Assist where needed to generate purchase orders based on ERP demand, and purchase requisitions.
  • Collaborate with Suppliers and /or internal customers to negotiate and resolve delivery requirements, material shortages, inventory levels or quality issues.
  • Plans and administers purchase orders for products, outside services, and supplies required for production to meet and/or exceed customer requirements and the Company’s commitment to safety, cost, and quality.
  • Proactively works with Outside Service Providers to expedite part deliveries to meet volatile production demands.
  • Work with accounting to research accounting discrepancies to resolve pricing issues.
  • Assist in process improvement projects.
  • Serves as a backup to coordinate assembly dept and shipping/receiving tasks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Business
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to create SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

PLUS HAVES:

  • Experience utilizing an ERP system
