Job description
Responsible for designing components or portions of electronic security systems. Collects information, conducts studies, analyzes data sets, and prepares original drawings to complete the installation design plan in support of field service operations. Determines the specifications and requirements for each project and works with Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts to ensure the accuracy of each installation plan. Use computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as AutoCAD to develop the security system designs.
CACI is seeking a Junior Design Engineer to support our operations in Ashburn, VA.
What You’ll Get to Do:
- Support the development of designs and complete engineering drawings for electronic security systems (ESS) to include CCDE, IDS, ACS, CCTV, supporting communications and power networks, and ancillary equipment.
- Work with Project Managers and Subject Matter Experts to develop the installation design plan.
- Understand and utilize the statement of work to develop installation package requirements.
- Support the development and submission of contract CDRLs.
- Support the development and completion of technical data packages.
- Support site surveys to assess customer requirements and develop conceptual design for proposals.
- Coordinate ESS product evaluations, selections, and development of the BOM.
- Compile equipment and materials parts lists for installation design packages.
- Use computer-aided design equipment and/or graphic tools such as AutoCAD to develop the security system designs.
- Develop and maintain templates for computer aided design models, ensuring compliance with applicable ASME and A/E/C standards.
- Calculate current consumption and battery run times for ESS power supplies.
- Calculate battery run times for UPS systems.
- Calculate conduit fill for conduit system designs.
- Calculate voltage drops for alarm circuits and power systems.
Must Have Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience installing and maintaining electronic security systems.
- Minimum 10 years of experience installing high and low voltage electrical systems.
- Understanding of lightning protection and grounding systems.
- Ability to apply an understanding of electronic security systems and device installation practices and methods to plan installation tasks.
- Basic understanding of USAF Security Forces guidelines and regulations (AFI 31-101, AFI 31-108, DoD 5210.41 and ESS Equipment Siting Guide).
- Understanding of electrical and communications infrastructure installation methods.
- Understanding of power distribution systems and electrical code.
- Ability to read schematics and technical documentation to ensure equipment meets the latest OEM release/revision level.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite of Applications
Additional Skills Which Will Enhance Selection:
- Certifications or familiarity in annunciator systems such as Honeywell Vindicator, Linx Predator Elite, Advantor, Hirsch, AMAG, Lenel, and Software House.
