Primary Function:
Help identify needs of teachers and connect them to needed training, resources, materials. Experience working with reading professional development and coaching effective literacy instructional practices. Observe and provide feedback to teachers on literacy instruction. Provide professional development on literacy instruction and program implementation.

Qualifications:

Hold or be eligible for a valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the area of English Language Arts, Early Childhood Education or Reading Endorsement


Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience teaching English/Language Arts


Demonstrated leadership in the area of reading instruction and reading intervention


Demonstrated experience with leading professional development and/or program implementation


The Board of Education and the Superintendent may accept alternatives to some of the above requirements.


Essential Functions:


Demonstrates and models effective teaching strategies for the English Language Arts, reading or intervention classrooms


Provides direct support to and mentors English Language Arts, reading and intervention teachers


Provides coaching and support to staff related to English Language Arts, reading and intervention instruction aligned with the literacy program of the district.


Provides coaching and support to staff related to literacy strategies in the content areas.


Conducts routine classroom observations and provides feedback to teachers and school leaders


Assists in data collection and delivery of data protocols to monitor the implementation and coordination of the English Language Arts, reading and intervention programs.


Meet regularly with the Reading/Language Arts Coordinators, district literacy team, and others.


Assist school leadership with planning and organizing literacy data analysis sessions and literacy effectiveness.


Provides training and support related to English Language Arts, reading and intervention instruction aligned with the literacy program of the district.


Adheres to legal statutes organizational rules and community standards


Maintains successful relationships with co-workers and across departments


Functions as a team worker


Manifests emotional stability and maturity in all phases of job performance


Gets along positively with staff, supervisors, and visitors


Treats confidential information and sensitive situations with discretion and avoids gossip
