The Job
We are looking for a talented Lab Technician to be based in our Plymouth, MI office. This role will support laboratory-based scientific investigations by carrying out technical tasks and experiments on pilot equipment. Responsibilities:
- Execute pilot testing in line with standard testing procedures, record observations, and interpret findings
- Perform routine laboratory analysis of water/wastewater samples like Ammonia, COD and pH
- Record all experimental data and test results accurately and in the specified format (written and/or electronic)
- Collect, receive, label, and/or analyze samples or substances using the correct testing equipment, when necessary
- Organize and store all chemical substances, fluids, and compressed gasses according to safety instructions
- Ensure that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory
- Maintain daily logs and equipment record books
- Clean, sterilize, maintain, and calibrate laboratory and pilot equipment
- Provide technical support, when necessary
- Keep up to date with relevant scientific and technical developments
- Additional duties, as required
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, environmental sciences, chemical engineering (or a related field) or equivalent experience, required.
- Experience in a laboratory environment, required
- Prior experience working as a lab technician, preferred
- Knowledge of water/wastewater filtration equipment, preferred
- Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances (flammable liquids, biohazards, etc.) following all safety and PPE processes and protocols.
- Knowledge of QHSE management systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices (preferred)
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems
- Superb dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
- Analytical skills
Pay Rate and Benefits
- $45,000-65,000 annual salary depending on experience
- 10% annual bonus potential
- Company pays 100% of employee’s medical, dental and vision premiums and 50% of the employee’s family’s.
- Nine paid holidays. 14 days PTO first year.
