JOB DESCRIPTION – LABORATORY TECHNICIAN (7p-7a shift)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Associates degree in food science, chemistry, microbiology, biology, biochemistry or related field required with Bachelors’ degree preferred; or three (3) years’ experience as laboratory tech or similar position.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Food Safety Systems and HACCP
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP’s)
  • Ability to work independently or within a group as needed
  • Strong initiative to address issues as presented as well as make recommendations as necessary
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
  • Possesses good observation, problem solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in the use of computers
  • Ability to work various shifts to meet the needs of the business Strong communication skills and ability to interface with all levels of management as well as outside sources
  • Demonstrated planning and organizing abilities Ability to take the lead role in representing the QA department

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Physiochemical analysis of raw materials (moisture, ash, color, freckles, Granulometry, gluten).
  • Reception of raw materials.
  • Preparation of certificates of product quality.
  • Release of cleaning of production equipment.
  • Review at the BPM’s plant.
  • Inspection of finished product (weight, color, humidity, sensory) process.
  • Analysis of physiochemical and microbiological of raw material and finished product.
  • Monitoring of deviations from quality in retention of finished product samples.
  • Monitoring of nonconforming product and product in observation.
  • Weekly graphics generation of quality pasta.
  • Disposal of shelf life of finished product samples.
  • Handling and care of equipment and laboratory supplies.
  • Verification of dimensions in product in process and finished product.
  • Collaboration in updating of specifications of raw materials, ingredients, materials and products.
  • Verification of metal detectors (critical control point).
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned areas are sanitary and orderly on a daily basis.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.53 per hour
