Inotiv in Fort Collins is looking for a hard-working, detail oriented and dedicated laboratory technician to join an exciting career oriented team to work in biomedical research. Essential abilities for this position include processing and analyzing clinical pathology samples; keeping a detailed inventory of sample receipt, processing, disposition, and storage; and coordinating shipments of samples, including international shipments and hazardous materials shipments. In addition, you would be responsible for inventorying, ordering and stocking lab supplies, managing and maintaining laboratory equipment, and good documentation practices.

Responsibilities:
  • GLP and Non-GLP biological specimen processing, storage, and shipment.
  • Prepare appropriate study records for processing and sample collection.
  • Prepare labels for biological specimen collection and storage tubes according to study protocol requirements.
  • Maintain specimen storage logs for refrigerator and freezer.
  • Prepare detailed Chain of Custodies (COCs) for study specimen or return test material shipments and file completed COCs when returned from the Sponsor.
  • Coordinate shipments of samples or other items as needed. This includes getting dry ice from vendor, appropriately packaging samples in shipping containers, creating shipping labels, and notifying recipients of shipment details.
  • DOT Hazardous Materials shipping training will be required and will be done as part of the job duties.
  • Inventory freezers/refrigerators approximately every 6 months to ensure accuracy of records.
  • Perform clinical chemistry, hematology, and urine sample analysis.
  • Perform appropriate maintenance, calibration, and quality control on clinical pathology equipment.
  • Laboratory supply inventory maintenance and acquisition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to multi-task and participate in multiple projects and department initiatives concurrently.
  • Ability to produce high quality results while working under the pressure of strict deadlines.
  • Ability to function effectively as a team to achieve department goals.
  • Know and understand applicable national and state regulatory agencies regulations such as AAALAC and OLAW, with the ability to apply these practices daily, including GLP requirements and their application to clinical pathology operations
  • Ability to document analytical results
  • Ability to garner technologic knowledge from literature and reduce to practice without supervision
  • Able to read and interpret animal identifications, test results and instrument and reagent specifications
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
  • MLT certification desired, or willingness to achieve certification
  • S./A.A. or B.S./B.A. in chemistry, biochemistry biology or similar area of education
  • Minimum 1-3 years as a generalist in a clinical laboratory; preclinical testing experience preferred
Skills and Abilities:
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Exhibits accuracy and adaptability performing laboratory operations, some of which may be difficult and/or novel.
  • Proficient in the use of a computer to compile and maintain simple data, spreadsheets, checklists and reports for records and inventory, utilizing the appropriate software.
  • Demonstrates an ability to follow detailed instructions with a sense for scientific method.
Physical Activity and Working Conditions
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and move heavy equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to stand and move (e.g., walk, bend, reach, lift, crouch, push, pull, lift.) throughout an entire work shift
  • Manual dexterity (e.g., feeling, grasping, fingering, repetitive motion) to operate necessary equipment and perform essential tasks outlined in position description
  • Required to have close visual acuity (e.g., preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small parts) and depth perception (with or without glasses/contacts)
  • Required utilization of provided personal protection equipment (PPE)
  • Occasional exposure to potential hazards such as hot water, steam, mechanical equipment, biological substances, loud noise, odors, chemicals, and to range of outdoor weather conditions
  • Regular on-site attendance as scheduled by management

This is a non exempt role paying $24.00-26.44/hr. Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
