Summary:

The Lab Technician is responsible for conducting special laboratory procedures for clinical trials. She/he will perform high complexity laboratory techniques including, but not limited to routine isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells, flow cytometry and DNA/RNA isolation.

Requirements:

Bachelor degree in a science discipline with 1-2 years of experience in cell purification, PBMC Isolation, and pipetting in a clinical or research laboratory.

Qualifications:

· Proficient in PBMC separation from human blood samples. Able to follow PBMC isolation protocol using Ficoll-Paque™ and a. Leucosep® Tube, cell culture techniques, cell purification (including immune cells) and functional assays.

· Experience in bench research laboratory setting.

· Advanced skills in tissue culture, molecular biology methods and immune assays.

· Strong ability to work independently, efficiently and productively in a fast-paced and diverse team environment.

· Proficiency with standard office Power Point, Excel, etc.

Essential Job Duties:

· Perform Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cell isolation from blood using Ficol gradient, CPT or Leucosep Tubes under sterile.

· Perform cell counting, dilution and gradual freezing using manual and automatic procedures.

· Prepare cell culture and freezing media following sterile conditions protocols.

· Conduct experimental design and execute pilot projects focusing on biospecimen research. Identify process improvements to increase data quality, lower costs, or reduce time to complete procedures. Assist in the implementation of changes as assigned.

· Complete documentation and maintain record of experimental results in an accurate and timely manner in compliance with regulatory guidelines, institutional standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality criteria for publications.

· Exercise good judgement in assessing whether workflows and assays are proceeding according to expectations and that results are within acceptable ranges. Analyze and interpret data, identify abnormal progress, potential QC failures or otherwise unusual results and escalate to Laboratory Supervisor immediately. Troubleshoot necessary steps independently or with minimal supervision.

· Communicate research results in team meetings delivering well-prepared presentations. Participate in scientific discussions focusing on biospecimen science and laboratory practices.
Notify Laboratory Supervisor of inventory shortage. When new reactives, kits or laboratory supplies are needed, provide rationale for purchase and comparison with standard methods.

Pay: $11.00 - $37.47 per hour
