The Lakota Group is a progressive, award-winning Planning, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, and Historic Preservation firm. We specialize in land use and master planning, downtown and main street planning, landscape/streetscape design, park/open space design and wayfinding/signage programs. Our projects include the full spectrum of land uses for public and private sector clients.

We are seeking a Landscape Architect/Designer with 1-5 years of professional work experience. All candidates should be highly creative self-starters with a passion for the profession and the desire to learn and grow into the business at all levels. Must have superior design and graphic skills, be able to meet aggressive project deadlines, work well in a team setting and be a strategic thinker. Applicants must possess the ability to articulate concepts well both graphically and verbally.

Responsibilities:

• Work on projects concurrently and adjust to dynamic project needs, depending on project type or scale
• Assist managers to ensure the successful completion of projects
• Promote teamwork among other Lakota team members
• Participate in project meetings
• Participate in professional organizations
• Take on internal operations roles to enhance Lakota’s key capabilities (through Lakota Committees)

Skills Required:

• Strong design, graphic, writing, and communication skills
• Proficiency with site design, planning, and knowledge of construction materials and techniques
• Develop project management and organization skills
• Ability to articulate concepts both graphically and verbally
• Proficiency in GIS, AutoCad, and Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office Suites
• Project development experience, including public engagement, design, construction documents/detailing, specification writing, and construction administration

Education/Expertise/Certification:

• Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture
• Preferred: Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design
• Preferred: Any additional accreditations
