The Laundry Worker III is the primary operator of the Continuous Batch Washer/Dryer (CBW). This employee is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the CBW and performs complex laundry work in an institutional commerial laundry setting. Work involves planning, scheduling, recording and facilitating the loading and unloading of the CBW to ensure effective and efficient operation, inspecting laundered items for quality and quantity and paying close attention to the computer controlling all operations. Other duties include sorting, classifying, weighing and recording of weights, loading and unloading of washer-extractors, drying, flatwork ironing, folding, steam pressing, and routine cleaning of work area/areas. Work involves both light and heavy physical labor. This normally works 5:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m., Monday-Thursday-. May work on weekends, holidays and hours other than those regularly scheduled may be required. Laundry Worker III works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for use of initiative and assigned property. All tasks will be performed within established time frames. Essential Job Functions:
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
1.Responsible for the operation of the Continuous Batch Washer (CBW) system and commercial washer/dryer extractors.
2. Responsible for preparing soiled laundry loads for the CBW.
3. Inspects laundered items for quality of work. Spot checks items for cleanliness.
4. Responsible for dryer operations.
5. Maintains a clean and safe environment to meet infection control and safety standards.
6. Responsible for training (to include cross-training) and assigning the work of others.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Skill in the operation of washers, extractors, tumblers (preferably the CBW), presses, irons, and flat work ironers; and in the use of soaps, bleaches, and washing solutions. Ability to sort and record weights of laundry items; ability to perform daily routine job functions; ability to routinely physically move a minimum of 50 pounds at a time; ability to work closely with others; ability to effectively communicate with others; and ability to follow English written and verbal directions. Ability to read and comprehend safety and technical manuals.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Experience in the use of washer/extractor and dryers in a commercial laundry setting. 6 months basic skill in the operation of computers. 6 months stocking, inventory or order filling experience required. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/ Entities. Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All new hire candidates will be required to receive COVID-19 medical screening (nasal test) as part of the due diligence process.
All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
