Job description
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
1.Responsible for the operation of the Continuous Batch Washer (CBW) system and commercial washer/dryer extractors.
2. Responsible for preparing soiled laundry loads for the CBW.
3. Inspects laundered items for quality of work. Spot checks items for cleanliness.
4. Responsible for dryer operations.
5. Maintains a clean and safe environment to meet infection control and safety standards.
6. Responsible for training (to include cross-training) and assigning the work of others.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency’s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge of laundering techniques and procedures in a commercial setting; of tools, and equipment used; and of proper lifting techniques. Skill in the operation of washers, extractors, tumblers (preferably the CBW), presses, irons, and flat work ironers; and in the use of soaps, bleaches, and washing solutions. Ability to sort and record weights of laundry items; ability to perform daily routine job functions; ability to routinely physically move a minimum of 50 pounds at a time; ability to work closely with others; ability to effectively communicate with others; and ability to follow English written and verbal directions. Ability to read and comprehend safety and technical manuals.

Experience in the use of washer/extractor and dryers in a commercial laundry setting. 6 months basic skill in the operation of computers. 6 months stocking, inventory or order filling experience required. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.

Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours.
