DFS is currently hiring for a
Lead
Diesel Technician to responsible for timely repair and maintenance of medium, or heavy-duty vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles for a customer as well as supervision the work of other technicians. If you are looking for a new place to call home, we would love to talk to you!
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervises the work of a team of field/shop technicians.
- Responsible for timely and thorough vehicle inspections (PM and DOT), along with minor (less than an hour) repairs on medium, or heavy-duty vehicles to ensure a safe and efficient fleet of vehicles for our customers.
- Diagnose, interpret and troubleshoot check engine fault codes.
- Perform analysis of malfunctioning components, such engines, transmissions, electrical systems, all types of brake systems, drive trains, suspensions, tires, wheels, HVAC, and Hydraulics, etc. to determine necessary repairs and service work needed.
- Open/Close repair orders and document all findings.
- Follow safety practices and procedures while making mechanical repairs
- Order parts/supplies and maintain proper inventory for vehicle maintenance
- Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers and vendors
- Provide excellent customer service by going above and beyond customers’ expectations.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Complete applicable tasks using company computer/TRAIT systems
- Ensures all employees under your supervision are working safely at all times and following applicable company policies and procedures.
- Maintain and improve technician productivity through training and support.
- Trains and supports your team in preventive maintenance and DOT expertise + delivery. This work includes diagnostic repairs.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of diesel vehicle repair experience, with strong diagnostics skills.
- Strong communication skills to interface with customers, vendors, Company management and support staff.
- Proficient computer skills, including MS Excel and Word, and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Dependable, organized and committed
- Experience in positions demonstrating the ability to provide exceptional customer service to external and internal contacts.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, and an almost obsessive attention to detail.
- Proven strong communication skills via phone and email.
- High energy, a positive attitude, adaptability and strong work ethic. Resourceful and motivated
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Must provide own hand tools that are adequate to perform job functions.
- High School Diploma or and equivalent combination of education. Technical school is a plus.
