Lead Manufacturing Engineer – Silent Aire

What you will do

• You will act an important part of the Manufacturing engineering department at Silent-Aire and collaborate with the senior departmental engineers in executing all aspects of a variety of challenging and innovative projects.
• Independently manage a workload consisting of multiple projects with multiple deadlines.
• Collaborate with senior staff with execution of projects and orders.
• Manage and execute work tasks and projects efficiently.
• Mentor, coach and supervise the work of other Engineers and junior staff.
• Interact with external sales representatives and clients on a variety of jobs/projects.
• Work both independently and as part of a departmental team lead in executing a variety of projects. Interact with other engineering disciplines and trades to successfully carry out all project requirements.
• Supervise and check the work of junior staff.

How you will do it

• Provide technical design support to senior engineers within the engineering department with specific focus on Manufacturing design engineering.
• Take a leading role in project execution.
• Coach, mentor and lead project teams, including Engineers in Training to success in a wide variety of projects.
• Communicate and interact with external clients.
• Selection and design of custom air handling equipment and modular data centers including:
  • Design of custom air handling equipment to client’s specifications.
  • Design of computer room air handling units to client specifications.
  • Design development and value engineering assistance of data centers and modular data centers to support client specific needs.
  • Selection of fans, coils and other equipment components associated with air handling equipment.
  • Costing of units and components.
  • Production of equipment drawings and submittal packages.
  • Production of construction drawing package
• Development assist with the development of new and innovative product lines and refinement of existing products.
• Interact with production; perform periodic inspections of units under construction.
• Participate in continuous product improvement.
• Be involved in many aspects of the business including support for estimating, business development and sales, production improvements and marketing

What we look for

• Mechanical engineering degree (BSc. Eng., B.Eng.)
• 5+ years of related experience in an engineering role
• Experience in HVAC design will be beneficial, including knowledge in equipment and system selection, design and control. Additional experience in metal fabrication and/or manufacturing is an asset.
• Proficient with drafting in AutoDesk products (Auto Cad and Inventor); demonstrated knowledge in proper drafting standards and practices
• Exudes confidence and tact in interacting with clients and colleagues
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial
• Ability to converse and collaborate with clients, vendors, and multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines
• Diligent, with an eye for detail and strong organizational skills
• Self-starting, ability to manage multiple tasks on strict deadlines
• Commitment to continuous technical learning and personal development, both self-directed and under the guidance of others
• Ability to direct the work of others in the team
• Ability to integrate new technologies into machines
