Requirements
Education/Experience:
Master's degree in Social Work or equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university recognized by the State of New York.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), NYS certification as a School Social Worker

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop and advocate for strategies to support the social-emotional needs of students across life environments.
  • Support and advocate for families (including referral to outside services) as they partner with school to enhance their children’s education and well-being.
  • Enhance staff’s knowledge of student social-emotional needs, including in the context of their families and community
  • Assign caseloads and related duties to the social work department
  • Review applications and interview candidates for the social work department
  • Train new employees in areas such as agency policy, department procedures, and agency or government regulations.
  • Provide program and clinical supervision and performance evaluation for school social workers
  • Oversee the compliance with regulations and policies affecting the social work department, including Medicaid billing requirements
Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
  • Familiarity with Word Processing, Spreadsheet, Internet, and Database software.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret IEPs; journals, professional reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to write reports & responses to family members; and other written expressions as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information to children and adults - 1 to1 and in groups.

Additional Requirements:

A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
