Job Summary:
The Lead SIEM Content Engineer serves as a key member of the Monitoring Operations team providing technical leadership and expertise to Allstate's Global Security Fusion Center (GSFC) within Allstate Information Security (AIS). This person will report to the Manager of Security Monitoring Engineering in the Security Engineering and Data Analytics Department. The Lead SIEM Engineer will have product ownership over our security monitoring strategy and need to make data-driven calls on where to invest resources for detection, visibility, and delivering the best content possible. Additionally, you will sit at the table to represent strategic monitoring considerations among security architects, application owners, data owners and several security professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create new detection techniques.
- Critique existing detection techniques.
- Design, implement, and maintain activities related to SIEM.
- Handle complex issues and troubleshooting related to Splunk.
- Identify detection gaps in existing security capabilities using data-driven decisions.
- Plan and lead large security projects and initiatives working with all areas of Information Security and business areas.
- Provide technical evaluations and recommendations for the SIEM team to leadership.
- Work closely with all SOC personnel to evaluate areas of opportunity to improve efficiency and security posture.
Education and Experience:
- 2+ years of IT Service Intelligence (ITSI) experience.
- 5+ years of Splunk ES or other SIEM solutions with experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining a fully operating SIEM solution.
- Advance knowledge of various network and security applications.
- Advance knowledge of logging from various network and security systems.
- Familiarity with basic statistics/probability and big data analytic techniques.
- Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages - experience with JavaScript/Node, Python, or PowerShell is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of information security concepts, trends, and practices.
- Working knowledge of various Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
