Job description
Republican Member of Senate Appropriations Committee seeks legislative aide to support appropriations work.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience with the appropriations process, submitting programmatic and CDS requests.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Writes letters and briefing memos on behalf of the Senator;
- Analyzes legislative developments on specific issues, recommends strategies and tactics on bills and amendments and maintains up-to-date status reports on all legislation relating to specific issues; and
- Drafts and marks up bills and amendments relating to specific issues.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Regular, predictable, in-person attendance required for performance of duties;
- Has ability to communicate effectively with the Senator and staff, members of the public, representatives from Senate and House offices, and outside organizations;
- Work is public-facing and requires frequent interaction with the Senator and staff, Members of Congress and their staffs, Committees, government agencies, and outside groups;
- Has ability to work effectively with others;
- Has ability to work long and unpredictable hours, weekends and holidays, as needed;
- Has ability to prioritize and perform duties under pressure in a fast-paced environment; and
- Regularly uses typical office equipment and methods of communication, including, for example, a computer, email, telephone, smartphone, photocopier, etc.
