The primary responsibilities of this position include loan processing support for the lending area, file set up, and documentation. Under the direction of the Loan Operations Supervisor, the main functions of the Loan Assistant position are the preparation and processing of new real estate loans and auditing loan files for missing collateral and documentation. In addition, the position is responsible for assisting the lenders with the ordering of title work, appraisals, payoffs etc. to prepare a loan for a loan closing is an essential part of this position.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the loan documentation tickler system including ordering appraisals/property evaluations, titles search, and flood, etc. This will also include periodic audits on files for missing collateral. Missing collateral will be reported to the Loan Operations Supervisor;
- Before the loan closes, this position will be responsible for obtaining any payoffs or hazard/flood insurance in connection with the new mortgage loan;
- After the loan has closed, this position will process abstracts/update title opinions and follow up with attorneys on final title letters;
- Responsible for keeping the real estate loan pipeline updated;
- Booking mortgage and consumer loans, which includes the imaging, indexing and reviewing loan documentation into the document imaging system;
- Processing the daily paid out report;
- Responsible for becoming familiar with lending compliance regulations in order to process loan information accurately;
- Answering customer questions and make any necessary corrections to the customer’s file for real estate loans/commercial loans. Troubleshooting possible errors on loan transactions within the core system;
- This position will support walk in customers of the bank with special requests. For example, customers may request notarized documents;
- As customers request credit line advances, this position will process those advances, make correct entries, and notify the customer as appropriate;
- Payoff quotes/satisfactions will be completed as requested;
- Serving as a back-up for the front desk when the loan receptionist is not available, which includes lunches, vacation, and sick time;
- As part of the overall team of bank employees, this position may be requested to assist in the support of other bank activities;
- This position requires a basic knowledge of other job duties within the department in case back-up is needed for these duties.
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School Diploma or Equivalency, preferably an Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or other business-related field of study; or equivalent, applicable experience in a relevant area of banking and/or business
- Minimum three (3) years’ relevant work experience preferably in Banking, Business or related area
- Demonstrated proficient computer skills, preferably working with Microsoft Office products, office systems and programs, with an emphasis on EXCEL, and the ability to successfully navigate and maintain current knowledge and skills working with technology
- Demonstrated ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Those include the understanding of the relationships of numbers and how to perform calculations for teller work
- Demonstrated above-average verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage one’s time to complete work according to established deadlines; and the ability to prioritize tasks to make the best use of time for high priority tasks
- Demonstrated adaptability and willingness to learn: In an ever-changing and evolving world of banking and investments in our community, this position requires an eagerness to adapt to those changes and the initiative to learn outside of daily parameters
- Demonstrated attention to detail, with the ability to detect errors and make necessary adjustments accordingly
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion in working with private, sensitive and other highly confidential information
- Demonstrated experience to tactfully and professionally address concerns and complaints
- Ability to maintain regular and routine attendance and punctuality
