Job description
The Logistics Manager position supervises and coordinates activities of the shipping and receiving department. He or she is responsible for managing the company’s supply chain and effectively communicating with carriers, customers, related company departments and management.

Oversee receiving and outgoing shipping activities, both domestic and international, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
Negotiate and manage domestic and international carrier relationships and streamline logistics services to benefit the company.
Guarantee accuracy of received items in quantity and specification.
Track, trace, and update the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
Use the information technology provided (NetSuite) to optimize receiving and shipping of all items and comply with internal forms and procedures.
Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
Issue written and oral instructions.
Assign duties and examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of workers and suppliers.
Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
Interview and hire new employees.
Maintain a clean, neat, and organized shipping/receiving area.
Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
Confer with other managers outside of the shipping department to ensure coordination of company functions such as production, inventory management, sales, accounting, and quality assurance.
Identify employees’ skills and develop them by coaching and counseling employees on a regular basis.
Conduct performance reviews and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance.
Convey shipping department status updates to management.
Adhere to RGF’s quality management policies and procedures. Produce, evaluate and report KPI’s for department to reflect activities and ensure continued improvement.

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Required Education and Experience
· 5 years of experience in logistics management (shipping and receiving)
· Experience with NetSuite
· Experience managing staff, including responsibility for hiring, terminating and performance appraisals.
Preferred Education and Experience
· Manufacturing/industry experience.
· Bachelor’s degree not essential
