Job Description:

Our Loss Control Director is an integral member of our Loss Control Engineering team working closely with our Client Integration Teams across the organization.

This position allows you to leverage your consultative skills and technical expertise to manage the engineering relationships between HSB and our customers. In addition, you will be exposed to new technologies associated with machine learning, sensors (IoT), energy efficiency tools as well as applying analytical and risk mitigation knowledge.

In addition, you will:

• Develop and execute technical service plans (TSP) for assigned clients to deliver, track and continually improve risk solutions of value to HSB, clients, agents and insureds
• Perform business analysis of assigned clients
• Track and address any issues surrounding jurisdictional inspections
• Develop and deliver relevant technical training to clients, agents and insureds
• Perform quality control reviews of engineering products and services
• Assist in the evaluation of individual claims and aggregate claims data
• Provide technical input for marketing initiatives
• Participate in business planning
• Build upon your existing equipment knowledge to develop further deep technical expertise
• Regularly interface with corporate underwriting, claims and our engineering staff and experts in other departments and office locations

WE EXPECT

A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, insurance or business related major or equivalent work experience
is required. Insurance experience in underwriting, claims and marketing as well as designations (e.g., CPCU, ARM, etc.) is desirable.

A minimum of five years’ experience in risk control, underwriting, claims, marketing and managing engineering/technical projects and or insurance business partnerships and a proven ability to work as part of a professional team is a must. Additional desirable experience includes property and casualty and specialty insurance (equipment breakdown); work experience selling comprehensive management solutions.

We require excellent interpersonal, written and presentation skills with the ability to communicate engineering and financial business subject matter to both technical and non-technical audiences. Experience writing technical papers and specifications is a plus. We also look for proven ability to work productively in diverse business and technical teams.
