Summary/Objective:
We are seeking two (2) teaching assistants to be the first and second grade teaching assistants for the 2023-2024 school year. The teaching assistant will provide educational and specialty support to the classroom teacher. Daily assignments will be provided by the classroom teacher, and/or a Specialty teacher for languages, handwork, music and movement. This job is 20 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, with a generous school holiday schedule, and mentoring provided.
Tasks description:

Supports daily classroom rhythms, including recess/snack/lunch

Supports teacher with redirection of students as needed, monitoring classroom educational work, providing assistance as needed to students

Meets with classroom teacher as to self and student progress

Attends, as required by the classroom teacher, meetings such as Parent class meetings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Open Houses, School events

Demonstrates knowledge and practice of Waldorf pedagogy as required

Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience:
-
Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Education or associated Liberal Arts

2-5 years experience working with children/students ages 5-7 years

Creative skills and abilities; handwork (knitting/crocheting preferred) and music (recorder preferred)

Excellent communicator with children and adults

Proactivity in researching Waldorf best practices
Compensation: $18 hourly
