Position Description:
This full-time position for the 2023.2024 school-year includes approximately 20 classes per week, as well as homeroom responsibilities and some lunch, recess, and dismissal supervision. Serving as a lower school homeroom teacher is also a possibility.
Math classes typically range from third, fourth, and fifth grade courses, and differentiation in the classroom is expected. Ability to teach a variety of learning styles is essential. Class sizes are small, averaging 10-12 students.
All teachers are expected to participate in ongoing curriculum and DEI work, which are key focus areas for the school.

About the School:
Science & Arts Academy (SAA) is an independent, non-denominational, co-educational, not-for-profit day school in Des Plaines, Illinois serving 280 students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. SAA educates gifted children in an academically differentiated and enriched environment while recognizing the unique development of each child. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Preferred: Master’s degree; gifted education coursework
- Teaching Certification (or proof of in-process)
- At least three years of teaching experience
