Job Title: Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) SpecialistWage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Purpose:
To facilitate the implementation of the Bilingual/ESL programs, LPAC process and procedures, maintain all proper documents, and parental engagement as related for all Emergent Bilingual students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or GED
Associate’s Degree Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Bilingual: English and Spanish
Uses computer, printer, copier, and calculator
Must be proficient in the use of Excel, Word and E-mail
Strong organization, communication and public relations, and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask
Must be highly organized
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Verifies the accuracy, completion, timely submission, and filing of all English Language Proficiency documents.
Verifies all Language Proficiency Assessment Committee (LPAC) documents that belong in the student’s cumulative records such as: Bilingual/ English as a Second Language program Permission Letter, English/Spanish LAS Links, student assessment data and end of year review information.
Assures that campus LPAC teams follow required processes according to the LPAC manual for identification, placement, and review of all students in the Bilingual/ESL programs within PEIMS and district timelines.
Provides guidance in the compilation of data in order to prepare the LPAC forms. This includes state and local assessment data and Teacher Recommendations.
Collaborates with the campus LPAC teams and PEIMS clerks to assure accurate coding of Bilingual/ ESL students.
Meets with campus LPAC Administrators and members regularly : Presenting to the LPAC members guidance on completing LPAC forms for review and decision-making purposes.
Remains abreast of the status of all students in the Bilingual/ESL programs, including those who will enter, re-enter, remain, or exit from the Bilingual/ESL program.
Creates lists on Excel of all Bilingual/ESL documents and information on students that are participating in the program.
Supports campuses in the administration of the LAS Links and IOWA assessments.
Keeps close contact with all Bilingual/ESL teachers and verifies that campuses are making available to them all LPAC and assessment information of Emergent Bilingual students.
Collaborates with campus LPAC administrators, testing coordinators and the bilingual/ESL department to ensure accurate student data for all decision-making processes.
Supports communication between the campuses and the parents of Emergent Bilingual students.
Attends mandatory staff development activities as needed to perform job functions and to improve performance.
Attends regularly scheduled meetings with campus LPAC teams for networking purposes.
Hosts and/or conducts meetings and/or presentations for Emergent Bilingual students' parents.
Prints and verifies PEIMS EB coding with administration every six/nine weeks.
Ensures compliance with local, state and federal law governing Emergent Bilingual students.
Maintains a professional level of confidentiality concerning personnel and students.
Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Director of Bilingual/ESL Education as related to the program.

Maintains emotional control under stress, works with frequent interruptions, repetitive hand motions, and prolonged use of the computer. Reading; ability to communicate effectively (verbal); ability to operate computer. Some bending, lifting and stooping while performing job related functions.
