The Role
As a Maintenance Supervisor (Environmental Health & Safety) in our Sharon Hill facility, you will manage all maintenance department functions including prioritizing and managing maintenance projects, resources, and participating in repairs. In addition, you will identify and develop additional safety guidelines, and maintain the existing safety program at STERIS Corp.
In the role of Maintenance Supervisor, you will work with the local leadership team to integrate and implement health & safety related initiatives to ensure compliance with all local, state, and national regulations. The Maintenance Supervisor will regularly monitor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and EPA guidelines. You will play a key role in ensuring STERIS provides a safe work environment to all employees, visitors, and Customers.

What You Will Do
- Manage Maintenance department and functions including prioritizing and managing maintenance projects.
- Implement and maintain a Comprehensive Maintenance Program for all machinery and equipment.
- Promote the best utilization of all assets; minimize down time of manufacturing equipment, electrical panels, sewer systems, water supplies, HVAC equipment and filters, carpentry, and cafeteria equipment.
- Identify and complete justifications of capital investment / equipment needs for Maintenance Department. Provide support to other departments by researching and justifying their capital investments.
- Direct the implementation and installation activities for equipment/machinery investments.
- Maintain Maintenance Work Order system; generate work orders for all maintenance requests for the machinery, facilities, or equipment.
- Direct activities of outside contractors and vendors as required ensuring quality, safety, and cost controls.
What You Will Also Do
- Monitor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and EPA guidelines. Meet all administrative deadlines and requirements as defined by pertinent regulatory agencies.
- Develop Health and Safety guidelines and deliver training as required to maintain a safe work environment.
- Prepare operational and capital budget for facility maintenance; manage maintenance needs to operate within budget. Negotiate and administer annual maintenance contracts.
- Identify, implement, and track cost saving initiatives.
- Prepare required reports on performance of department (i.e., SQDC boards).
- Manage and coordinate performance reviews, recruitment, technical training for staff, salary adjustments, and employee relations.
- Maintain results through coaching, counseling of staff and setting meaningful and measurable goals.
What You Will Need to Be Successful
- Associate's degree (or completion of Apprenticeship Journeyman Millwright/ Maintenance Mechanic program) and 5 years’ relevant experience; or High school diploma/GED and 8-10 years maintenance mechanic experience.
- Five (5) years’ experience in an applied facilities/plant maintenance role required, preferably in a production environment (Sewing machines and sealing machines).
- Five (5) years’ experience in related manufacturing environment with demonstrated technical knowledge related to area of responsibility (CNC, Robots, Electronic, Electrical, and Mechanical).
- Five (5) years’ experience as a supervisor or team lead with accountability for coaching, scheduling, and timesheets etc., preferred.
- Ability to interpret manufacturing schematics and blueprints and interface effectively in technical situations.
- Demonstrated excellent organizational, communication, team building, coaching, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to integrate safety, 5S requirements and lean manufacturing principles into maintenance practices.
