POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring the efficient and quality standards for the operation of specific packaging and filling machinery within operations. Responsible for all specialized maintenance, repair, and reliability of packaging and filling machinery. Maintains, sets-up, and runs all of the permanent and portable packaging and filling equipment. Performs general mechanical tasks such as equipment repair, carpentry, plumbing, and painting to meet both production and building needs. Responsible for the training and development of level 1 mechanics. Responsible for a high level of trouble shooting on advanced machinery and working closely with outside vendors when required. Maintains and repairs equipment and systems that support production, distribution, warehousing and general facilities operations. This includes but is not limited to electrical and electronic PLC controlled systems and equipment.
Qualifications:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Meet all the requirements of a level 1 mechanic and pass associated written and mechanical testing required to advance to level 2 mechanic
- High school diploma or equivalent education for math and English skills; trade school education preferred. Pass mechanical testing and aptitude test.
- 5+ years previous packaging and/or filling related experience preferred.
- Must be knowledgeable of mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Must have good understanding of equipment timing and phasing.
- Understanding of the principles of electrics, electronics, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Skills in fault diagnosis to component level- including the use of test equipment.
- Ability to meet all safety standards.
- Knowledge of components and component problems.
- Knowledge of company’s production systems and QA standards.
- Knowledge of fabrication and installation of parts.
- Advanced mechanical skills including the ability to analyze causes of mechanical breakdown and arrive at a solution.
- Communication effectively including being tactful and diplomatic in stressful situations
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate engineering concepts to non-technical personnel.
- Basic math skills and an understanding of American standard and metric measures.
- Computer literate, Microsoft Office preferred
- Must supply own tools.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- May be required to handle containers of hazardous material in a safe and approved manner.
- Must be able to work in environment that is oily, dusty and noisy.
- Must have and maintain a good attendance record.
- Must be able to work overtime, including weekends and all shifts.
- Must be available to work in all Northtec facilities as needed
- Must be able to wear all PPE, vest, arc flash, safety shoes and meet all GMP standards for dressage
- Must be able to work under all conditions: I.E. cold heat, wet, dry, dust, snow, confined space and elevated areas.
- High School and trade school or equivalent. Certification of completion of Rockwell Automation training for Allen Bradley systems.
- Demonstrated ability of programming PLC controllers 1785 PLC-5 and 500 with RSLogix5 software (version 3.0 or higher).
- Five years minimum experience required in the field of electronic components and PLC programming.
- Demonstrated understanding of the National Electrical Code.
- Demonstrated proficiency in blueprint, electrical schematics and technical literature reading.
- Demonstrated proficiency on P/C systems.
- Must posses a valid state issued driver’s license.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills required.
- Physical effort required, must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work under all conditions. I.E. cold, heat, wet, dry, dust, snow, height.
- Good communication skills and demonstrated knowledge of English, reading and writing.
- Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
- Ability to navigate in computer systems such as Word, Excel, Outlook. Internet & Intranet.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
- Must be available to work all shifts.
- Must be available to work in all Northtec facilities as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 per hour
