Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a Management Consultant to join our Risk and Resilience Team for Raleigh, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in resiliency planning around the east coast and beyond.

We are looking for dedicated, creative, and energetic candidates interested in tackling big challenges and developing sustainable and equitable solutions. Collaborating with our experienced water professionals, you will support the development of projects, interact and work with clients, and develop your technical, communications, and project management capabilities. The position requires experience and interest in the fields of flood hazard mitigation, coastal resilience planning, community engagement, watershed management, water resources planning, stormwater management, or civil engineering/urban planning with a focus on climate resilience.

Role accountabilities:

What you will do:

• Support development of resilience and risk mitigation assessments and planning and conceptual design for utilities, municipalities, and private clients
• Engage in research and task execution in support of high-profile risk and resilience programs/projects across the region
• Support economic analyses and benefit-cost analyses
• Assist development of grant applications and support project management efforts (i.e. project scopes, budgets, and client deliverables)
• Prepare reports, presentations, and other materials, and participate in client meetings
• Work independently and as part of a team, with the flexibility to accommodate collaboration with team members across the U.S. and internationally
• Work on multiple concurrent projects with multiple deadlines, ensuring completion per project budgets and timelines

Who you are:

• Reliable, client-focused, collaborative, and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, with strong research, technical and non-technical writing ability
• Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and work ethic
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize amongst competing priorities and eagerness to take ownership of tasks
• Knowledge and experience using concepts, data, theories, analyses, and practices related to climate resilience
• Functional experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook)
• Experience preparing public-facing technical and planning reports a plus
• Experience using ArcGIS a plus

Qualifications & Experience:

• An advanced degree (MS or Ph.D.) in planning, policy, engineering, or another related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior internship or professional experience in a similar role.
• Interest in a career in resilience planning, policy, or engineering.
