Job Description

Overview:

The primary functions for this position are the following:

• Lead monthly Accounting close processes for the US Innovative R&D team.
• Partner with the Clinical Pharmacology, Translational Medicine and R&D Japan teams.
• Finance project lead for multiple innovative products.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the end to end monthly/quarterly close process for the US Innovative R&D group:
• Prepare and record monthly clinical accruals by collaborating with project managers, 3rd party vendors and other finance team members.
• Maintain financial routine including managerial reports, meetings and gap analysis.
• Assist with Inter-Company and tax requests from internal and external parties.
• Reconcile financial systems- SAP and Hyperion Planning. Identify mapping issues and work to resolve.
• Support P&L quarterly Flux analyses.
• Provide input to continuously improve accounting processes and procedures and related outputs.
• Perform other Finance and Accounting functions or analysis, as necessary.
• Educate business partners on the accrual process.

Cost center finance partner:

• Work closely with business partners to act as their central point of contact for all financial related activity.
• Work with cost center business partners to create/manage their forecasts and annual budgets.
• Review quarterly actual results with your assigned business partners.
• Assist cost centers with business decisions (from a financial perspective) and system coding.

Primary Finance business partner to select innovative projects.

• Provide financial support and analysis for projects Annual Operating Plan, Quarterly Forecast updates, Long Range Plan and associated financial reporting packages
• Ensure the project team understands the financial implications of operational decisions to help make informed decisions and trade-offs.
• Effectively communicate financial information to project leaders and management in a way that is articulate and meaningful.
• Identify areas of risks and/or areas to improve efficiency, recommend solutions and manage process improvements through completion.
• Provide added value by gaining a thorough knowledge of the R&D business life cycle.

Qualifications

Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other business degree.
• 5+ years of accounting experience.
• 3+ year’s relevant corporate experience in financial analysis.
• Demonstrated advanced Excel experience.

Experience Preferred:

• Exposure to the pharmaceutical industry and/or R&D environment.
• Experience with financial systems; SAP and Hyperion Planning is a plus.
